I know its been so long since I put anything here but really…. there hasn’t been anything thats struck me enough to put down so sorry for the delay but I finally found something that excites me enough to write a little blog about it. And that is… are you ready? Twilight! I know, deep, right? Sorry, if you’re looking for deep, I’ve about decided that this is the wrong blog for you. I like to keep my personal thoughts in my head where they belong.
I have no problem, however, seriously geeking out on you! For literal months, from all sides of me, I’ve had friends of mine telling me I should read Twilight, that I would love it. I even had it at the house and I had read the jacket and was like, this sounds like crap and then never read it. Ryan decided he wants to see the movie, because it looks awesome, and so I figured I should read the book first and I finally opened it up… by the end of the third chapter, I was a goner. I never stood a chance. Its so good and I totally say everyone should read it. A good, a wholesome!, read. Not something you get in most vampire stories, at least the first book is. I have, sadly, yet to read the rest… but I’m going to as soon as I can get my hands on them.
So, in my impatience, I made this wallpaper. It might not make sense until you read the book/see the movie but I love it all the same. This is only the first version, I’m going to do more work on it later I believe. Maybe I’ll put up the final version once I’m done.
And so that is where I’m at. I gave into the peer pressure and now have something new to make me a total nerd. Luckily, though, I am okay with that.
Okay, song! Yay for songs! My song for today is by a guy named Ben Jelen and he’s so good its insane… so here is my personal favorite of his songs. Come On by Ben Jelen.
For those who don’t know, Ryan and I have a serious problem with buying video games and then never finishing them. One, in particular, we bought maybe three years ago. It wasn’t that it was a bad game, its an AWESOME game in fact. We just got distracted by other things. Finally this week, we, er…. Ryan, finished Kingdom Hearts 2 and in celebration, I made this.
Ookey, movie recommendation… not exactly a small movie that no one’s heard of but Jumper is really really awesome. They’re all jumping and fighting all over the world. Fantastic. Though, word of caution, it is rated PG-13 for some language and violence and the such. And my song! After the comments last time on music, I am compelled to put up two actually. The first is just my overall band of the moment that I find myself listening to all the time lately, The Academy Is and the song is called “(We’ve Got a) Big Mess On Our Hands”. (Fast Times at Barrington High on August 19th!! Can’t wait!)
Alright, second, is the awesomeness that is Panic at the Disco. Emo? You be the judge. Awesome? Without a doubt. Here’s “Nine in the Afternoon”.
So, dudes and dudettes, I think that’s it for today! I’m super sleepy for some reason. Oh, though we should have a moment of silence for Gev, who was voted off So You Think You Can Dance last week. I have no idea who I want to win now, its maddening. Peace and hair grease, my friends.
So I start with a loud happy Fourth of July! Hope you all had a great one. Mine was sorta lowkey but that’s all good. I loved it all the same.
For the most part, that is. I have a quick update, sad news… well, for me. Excuse me if I get choked up a little…. Last night, Matt was voted off So You Think You Can Dance. I know, I know. He was taken too soon. I hear you loud and clear especially after an awesome solo but… I shall try to move on. My new male favorite is Gev Manoukian. He’s so cute, I just want to pinch his cheeks.
I also think it important to note that Fayetteville, North Carolina is officially the third worst place to live in the country according to a recent nationwide survey. So… I’m not all that surprised. Sadly. But, hey, only a couple years left and we can leave and move to one of the best.
Okay, totally not prepared with a song so let me peruse my files real quick for one that everyone should hear…. Ah! Got one! Great song, nostalgic. If you don’t know it, you’re not American. We all know it. We all love it. Its “Pure Imagination” from Willy Wonka. And quick note, the actual song doesn’t start until about a minute into the video.
So thats it. I didn’t have much to say today. I will talk to you hip cats later!
So I’m back. Life has been rather boring with little to say or write about so its been rather quiet. A lot of long workdays for Ryan leaving us at the house. One big thing for me… its So You Think You Can Dance season! My favorite part of the year. You can keep your American Idols and America’s Got Talent… give me a bunch of freakishly amazing dancers anyday. My current favorites are Matt Dorame and Chelsie Hightower but really I love them all. Thursdays are awful for me because I don’t want anyone to leave but I have to say goodbye to two people anyways. *le sigh*
We also went out to eat the other day. It was supposed to be a peaceful dinner that was totally disrupted by this lady that got a little too close for comfort. I mean, there’s personal space, right? Its important but its also important with people’s children. Now I’m used to having strangers come up and talk to Elijah… he is the cutest baby ever, it happens… but this lady just crossed a line. She worked there at the restraunt… wasn’t our waitress, just worked there. At first she just came over and talked and I’m like, alright. Nothing wrong with that. So we get our food and we’re eating, I see the lady coming back out of the corner of my eye and turn towards her and she holds up her finger to her lips like she’s going to sneak up on him which is weird as he’s two and not going to be disrupted at all but I’m like, whatever, and she comes up and wraps her arms around him and kisses him on the cheek! Which, obviously, ticked me off. You don’t kiss the baby’s of strangers without their permission. You just… you just don’t! I figure that’s pretty universal, right?
But it wasn’t over. Not yet. She’s around for most of our meal, making Ryan and I both a little perturbed and we finally get our ticket and are about to leave and guess what she does? She comes, once again without our permission, takes him out of his highchair and is all carrying him around saying crap about how he is her baby now and how she’s going to take him home with her… Keep in mind we have never met this lady before in our life. For all we know she means it and Ryan and I are doing this nervous laughter and eyeing each other, both just about to pounce on this lady when finally she just pushes me over the edge.
See, there is only one thing that Elijah is afraid of… heights. He hates heights so she decides to throw him up in the air and he FREAKS out and she’s holding onto him, trying to calm him down and I just get up and take him from her. I was done. But its just… this person worked at a restraunt so you’d think she has some concept of social skills? Where is it that some people come off with just none at all? Personal space… personal boundaries… very important.
Okay now that I’m done with my rant… had to get that out… I get to throw out my recommended song. Its called “Dark Waltz” by Hayley Westenra. Gorgeous song, the video is about Phantom of the Opera but its the best one I found with the song on it so if you like Phantom, feel free to watch that too. As for movies, I’ve had a string of rather bad ones lately so I’m going to fall back on one that everyone should rewatch or watch for the first time… “Enchanted”. I love it. Ryan loves it. Its just great.
Also, I have to put in a little shameless promotion. I have a new Deviant Arts page. Its sorta bare right now as I collect different pieces to add to it but its just a place for me to display some of the graphics I have made. And that is here… http://hlewis98.deviantart.com/.
Anyways, I hope you all have a great Fourth of July. Ninja out!
So I want to start out with a Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. Its a couple days late but I mean it all the same. A couple special ones to my own dad and husband. I love you both so much and kisses to you.
In celebration of this day, today’s song is dedicated to Ryan, my hubby and the father of my own little boy. Its Fabolous’ Make Me Better. Featuring Ne-Yo, I think.
Also, I have to profess the new love of my life. Netflix. The most amazing thing in the world. Its crazy how many great movies I’ve seen recently. Right now I’m in the middle of the Tenth Kingdom, a miniseries from a few years back about fairy tales and the like. Really great. Totally recommend it. My big recommendation though is called “Rocket Science”. Its a great movie. Funny, smart. About a boy with a stutter that joins the debate team. Ah, it brought back some memories of the forensics team back in high school.
Anyways, hope you are all having a great month. Loves!
For those who don’t know, I have a serious problem with being shown up by younger siblings and as Neil is seriously rocking his blog, I can’t just sit back and let it happen without showing him up…
Maybe that’s not really it. But now that Neil has one and then my dad got one… it seems like the next logical step, right? So lets keep all digits crossed that I can handle it and do a good job as well. Thats about all I’m hoping for right now: to keep up. Basically I’m just going to put my thoughts down, I mean, that’s what blogging is right? Sometimes I might have some big earth-shattering, life altering revelation and then the next day it might be some minor blip on the scene that really has no other point except I thought you should know. Maybe not even that. Maybe I just wanted to rant or something.
My first thing will be one of the more minor ones I think but I figure start out with a bang, right? Recently Fall Out Boy put out a live CD. For those who don’t know, I love Fall Out Boy but when I heard what single they were putting out for it, I was beyond skeptical. It seems on tour they did a cover of “Beat It”, classic Michael Jackson. I have a serious problem with people who go out and try to cover these classic songs. They should not be messed with. They are perfect as is, its why they are held to the standard they are. No matter how you love it, just leave it alone.
I think Fall Out Boy shut me up though. I watched the video for it the other day and actually loved it. They didn’t go in and screw around with it. Its pretty much the same song, only done by four white boys in a rock band. So I say bravo to Fall Out Boy to making a true tribute to a great song and not a cheap cover.
And I’ll be making changes to the layout over the next few days as I play around with Photoshop to make up something great. I’ll be back soon so kisses and love!
